We Act...
by reporting suspected child abuse

Increased public awareness has led to greater reporting of child abuse. One of the purposes of the Child Protective Services Law is to encourage more complete reporting of child abuse. In the previous sections, you learned the categories and red flags of child abuse. You also were provided with a tool to help you respond to a child disclosing a case of suspected abuse. If a situation presents itself in which you feel a child is being abused and you have reasonable suspicion, you need to make a report.

In this lesson, you will learn the process for reporting a suspected case of child abuse and what happens after the report is made. Additionally, we will review ways to overcome common barriers to reporting suspected child abuse.
