For institutions, with a campus police or security department and on-campus housing facilities, the Clery Act has additional requirements that must be fulfilled.

Disclose Missing Student Notifications

Institutions must establish a missing student notification policy and related procedures. Essentially, if a student who lives in on-campus student housing is determined to have been missing for 24 hours, the University has only 24 hours after receiving the report to initiate specific notification procedures.

Maintain a Daily Crime Log

Any institution, regardless of whether it is public or private, that has a campus police or security department, must create, maintain, and make available a daily crime log. The purpose of the daily crime log is to record criminal incidents and alleged criminal incidents that are reported to the campus police or security department.

Maintain a Daily Fire Log and Publish an Annual Fire Report

The Clery Act requires institutions that maintain on-campus housing facilities to create, maintain, and make publicly available, a daily Fire Log and publish an Annual Fire Report. At Penn State, the Annual Fire Report is combined with the Annual Security Report, titled “Policies, Safety, & U.”
